Jean's new york daughters II
the new york imports' decision to invest energy in reproduction rather than bloom and berries seems to be paying off..the plant in the bed on the south side of the house ( first photo ) has produced rather a lengthy stolon and a daughter ( second and third )...the plant in the bed on the east side ( fourth ) has produced a stolon ( fifth ) a robust daughter ( sixth ) and another stolon that is looking to root somewhere ( seventh )...i would like to spread these plants around so i am repeating the daughter plant transfer i did with the native berry plant i did a while back...i took an old flowerpot ( eighth )...buried it in the bed ( ninth )...filled it with soil ( tenth ) ...and guided the stolon end to it ( eleventh )...it may become necessary to peg the stolon down to convince it to root...we will let it have its own way for now and only intervene if necessary...and the native berry daughter transfer? the plant is doing very well actually ( twelfth )...it has produced a daughter of its own and more stolons than i actually want ( thirteenth and fourteenth )...we will save some...snip others...more as the transfer takes hold.
